CH Deep River’s Mountain Laurel (Deysi)
Congratulations to Tim & Dianne H. on finishing their Deysi in VA on Sat. 5/17. (Roger/Snow) She was shown to her championship, including one specialty and 2 all-breed majors, and two BOV over specials by Joel McCarty & Nick Joines.

Tickle’s 4th in an Am Bred class of 20 at Last Month’s CCA National Co-owned with Kathy D. and shown for us by Taylor & Dona W.
Tickle won a 4 pt. major from BBE class in PA 5/23 under collie judge Judy Adams, handled by Kathy D. She now has both majors in just four shows!
BIG NEWS – Chanel went to the CC of IN specialties and was BOV smooth over a 30+ entry and on to BOB over a beautiful rough entry under breeder judge Amy Gau. A wonderful Mother’s Day win. We just bred Chanel to our Armani/Astrid son CH Rafi, so perhaps the Mother’s Day win is a good sign! *** For a description of upcoming litters and photos of sires and dams, see our Available page.
Rafi, pictured finishing his championship from the puppy class below, is now 18-months-old.
From Ellen R. in DE: Bridhe’s sister, Bacardi, went to her first shows at 6 months and was reserve to Deysi on Sat. in VA and WB/BOW/BOV for her first point on Sun.
Bacardi at 8 Weeks
Bridhe (Bacardi’s sister) went to her first show yesterday (5/23) and won a 3 pt. major from puppy class. Here she is with Kathy W. getting a good look from the judge! Claire & I are very happy!
Nancy P.’s tri smooth Scout/Spring daughter, Shine, earned her 2nd major today (5/24) in Fletcher, NC for a total now of 10 points. One of several Scout offspring close to finishing a championship!
I wanted to give you a quick update on Karch. He completed his Novice B Jumpers Title on April 25th with a first place and a score of 100. We moved up to Open Jumpers the same weekend and he Q’d for his first leg with another clean run and score of 100.
From Susan Carbee in VA: Both CH Cam HSAs & CH Sky RN, HSAd finished their Excellent agility titles last month and are ready to compete for Masters titles!

From Jody A. & Kathy W. in ME – We got our agility photos from the National on Friday. Took us awhile to decide what to order. Well, I ordered ALL of Thorne’s…. We ran in “Not Ready For Prime Time”. I asked the photog to leave Noreen and Carol in the background (he had cropped them out) because I love the big grins while they watch Thorne play…or maybe it’s shock when they realized I can run – sort of…. Anyway, feel free to crop them if you decide to post his pic.
Unfortunately, Demanda’s pictures didn’t do her justice so we’re going to take another look at the website to see if any of the others look any better. Demanda finished her NA last month just after the national!
CH Demanda NA
Eve, on the other hand, could not take a bad photo if she tried! Hard to believe she will be 10 1/2 in June!!!
BTW, Thorne and I are entered in the CCME agility trial – our very first – mid-June. No distractions there, huh? Outdoors, campground, usually 90+ degrees…. oh yikes. Demanda will be there, too. She has both her NA and NAJ now (yep, happened very fast) but will stay in novice while she continues to learn. Eve doesn’t run outdoors these days.

From Cindy S. in NC: Dart gave me 2 glimpses of his inner agility dog..LOL. He had 2 wonderful runs on Sunday (5/18). The only mistake was mine. And not once did I feel like I was dragging a 60 lb dog along the course..YIPPY! And he won and Qed both of his Novice classes. There were 9 or 10 20″ novice dogs in his standard run and only 2 Qed. His JWW run was a dream! And he was 18 seconds under time (24.62 with a course time of 43).
Abbey did great but her back was bothering her and she could not complete in her weaves. The rest of her courses were BEAUTIFUL! And we both got a massage. My first – NICE. (Abbey is one of Cindy’s rescue girls).
Silver @ Her First Obedience Trial 5/17 (1st Q on her BN w/1st place)
Anna CDX (holding her utility glove)
Anna & Deb show in Utility (5/24) for the first time and earn their first Q with first place! Deb writes, “Do you believe in miracles?!” Anna Banana got the first leg toward our Utility Dog title today!!!!!!!!!
From Deb K. in MD – So…..Anna and I had not been in the obedience ring much lately. I’ve been working on getting her confidence back to do the more complex routines, in hopes of getting her Utility title at some point. I entered her in Versatility to gauge our progress. Versatility is an “optional titling class” and involves: 2 exercises from Novice, 2 from Open, and 2 from Utility. There are a lot of possible combinations and you don’t know until right before the class what it will be on that day, so it’s (kind of) fun. If you qualify three times, you get the VERS obedience title.
Anna had a workmanlike attitude in the ring, despite the ice pellets making scary noises on the tin roof of the building during our run. She was so good that I had to capture the memory with the pro photo.
And in other news, both Anna and Silver are taking nosework and flyball classes in addition to obedience. They’ve also been going on group hikes and some fun collie gatherings now that Winter is finally over. (Silver, ever the high-spirited girl, has been behaving quite well at these group events, to my amazement. LOL)
But….best of all…….the girls went to a HERDING fun day last weekend! You won’t be surprised to hear that they did AWESOME with the sheep. :-) I am sending you a picture of each of them so you can see how cute they look bossing the sheep! Then there are tons of pictures and videos that some of the other attendees took, but I haven’t been able to download them yet due to computer problems. :-( (Getting internet upgraded next Wednesday so I hope to
share more after that.)
I have promised Anna that if she gets her Utility title, then we can go herding some more. And I have promised Silver if she stops “ungardening” all of our plants, she can do more herding, too.

Deep River Dublin Hill Ghost Bride CGC, HIC(aka -Little Miss Perfect)
Bridhe 6-months-old on May 1 (born on Halloween - no 31st in April)
From Claire at trials in Berryville, VA: Showed once under Susan Rhoades and once under Barbara Lockhard. Both runs after the downpour and hail, rundown was unusable, and we couldn’t really even let them off leash safely, so most HIC runs were on leash. It was a mudfest. She did her stay and recall perfectly. She is soooooo tired tonight.
Plum HXAs, HIBs (below at 11 weeks)

Sherry M. took her HC Kip/Swap HSAs, HSBs (Scout/Haylee) to the Berryville trials. Plum finished her HXAs & her HIBs title on Sat. and earned two Q’s toward her HXBs title on Sunday! AMAZING!!!

Nim & Friends – looks like a sporting dog convention! Who invited that smarty pants blue smooth collie!
From Ann S. in PA: Just an update. Stirling gets to have the spring off from showing while I deal with foaling mares. After the long, snowy winter we had, I think he is enjoying some time to just hang out and be a farm dog. We will be back to chasing GCH points in July.

Sydney had so much long hair jutting out from her ears that Pam B. took action! She got out her Collie Concept, read the instructions, and gave the girl a trim. Good job, Pam!
