Puppy Aptitude Testing & Herding Instinct Testing went very well on Tues., Feb. 23. Claire Apple did the testing at her farm. The puppies will be 9-weeks-old tomorrow, Fri., Feb. 26. Scroll down to Feb. News below to see the latest Deep River Champion, Crystal, who finished this past weekend for owner En Chang.

News from Concord, NC Shows:

CH Deep River’s Bow and Arrow (Scout) was BOV smooth all 3 days in Concord and was awarded a Herding Group 4 on Sat. and a Herding Group 3 on Sunday! Our blue rough boy Bright was WD two days. Joy was entered one day in Advanced Rally Obedience and got her final Q, earning her title with a 3rd place. Our Valerie was entered one day also and got her first Novice Rally Q with a score of 92 (out of 100) on her first time in the ring. Keep scrolling down to see recent photos of Bright and Valerie!

Show Wins from Marietta, GA – Oct. 23-26

CH Deep River’s Bow and Arrow was BOV at the three all-breed shows and one of the two specialty shows in Marietta, GA. Our blue rough male Bright, Deep River’s A Light >From Within, earned two major reserves and one 4 pt. major. Bright is co-owned by Sue & Mike Prieskorn.

Surprise! Surprise!

A casual look at both Canine Chronicle & Show Site stats revealed a wonderful surprise for us! Our Scout, CH Deep River’s Bow and Arrow, is ranked # 1 in breed points and # 1 in all-breed points so far for 2008, (as of Sept 30) according to both!

Great Weekend in Greenville, SC

It was a terrific weekend for Deep River Collies in Greenville, SC this past weekend, July 25-27.

On Fri. at the Greenville KC show, Deep River’s Reflexion In Snow (Powder) was smooth WB & BOW for a 4 pt. major, shown by Dona Williams. Congratulations to Powder’s owner Wendy Lamp and co-breeder Pam Brown. Powder needs a major to finish. Deep River’s Jake ‘O Lantern was RD to the 4 pt. major in smooth dogs from the 6 to 9 month class -owner handled. Our rough boy Deep River Younghaven Alliance (pictured below under Puppy News) was RD in roughs. CH Deep River’s Bow and Arrow (Scout)was BOV smooth – shown by Dona Williams.

On Sat. at the Spartanburg KC show, Deep River’s Winter Shadows (Snow) was smooth WB & BOW for a 4 pt. major from BBE class – shown by yours truly. Congratulations to Snow’s owner Irene Meier and co-breeders Mike & Tucky Vaughan. This was Snow’s first show weekend. Scout was smooth BOV.

On Sun. at the Hendersonville KC show, Deep River Ironhill Dark Victory (Bogie) was breeder handled to WD for 4 pts. Congratulations to Bogie’s owners Yvonne Shelton & Robin Perry! Scout was again BOV. Because the smooth entries were large ones for all-breed shows, Scout got a very respectable 51 Hawkins points (CCA Top 10 system) for the weekend! In roughs our Felicia – Jag-View’s Beyond A Glance (pictured below under Puppy News) was WB for a 4 pt. major – shown by Dona Williams. Felicia needs a major to finish.

Show News from Gray, TN: Our beautiful rough boy Sky became CH Deep River’s Light the Night Sky HT on Sun., May 18. Sky’s happy owner is Susan Carbee. Congratulations, Susan! Also in Gray, TN our lovely CH Deep River’s Bow and Arrow (Scout) earned a Herding Group 2 under Barbara Alderman. This is Scout’s 3rd Group placement in his last two all-breed outings! Herding Group 4’s at Beckley KC & Magic Valley KC for our CH Deep River’s Bow and Arrow. Scout has been BOV 6 of his last 7 shows. Nancy, Pam, Kathy W., Micki & I (the Scout Syndicate) are proud!

At these shows Deep River Iron Hill Dark Victory – a.k.a. Bogie (See Available Page) earned his first 4 pts. Also traveling with us, was Deep River’s Reflexion in Snow (Powder) who belongs to Wendy Lamp in AZ. We’ve minored Powder out – she hasn’t been defeated so far – all WB & BOW.

Also at recent shows blue rough Deep River’s Light the Night Sky, HT earned additional points, and needs 2 pts. to finish. Co-owned with Susan Carbee. Sky is also prepping for his PT in herding.

In other herding news owner/handler Mailen Loos earned the first AKC HSAd (Started A Course Ducks) qualifying score on her little blue rough girl, Deep River’s Image in Ice, PT. This owner/handler/trainer is in her 70s!

A big congratulations to everyone!!!

CCA Top 10 Invitation & Show News:

A little surprise for us last week – Jim Holliday & I showed Scout a few weekends in 2007 – two specialty weekends and three all breed weekends. The boy made the Top 10 CCA Hawkin’s System, mainly because of Jim’s showing him to some very nice specialty wins. Nancy & I give him a huge THANK YOU!

Also – Scout’s daughter is now CH Deep River’s Western Wear. She finished Sat., Feb. 16 in Greenville and was BOS to her dad as a move up on Sun. Congratulations to Portie & Liz on their first champion and to Lily’s co-breeders, Mike & Tucky. on their 3rd homebred champion from their Kate! Scout & Lily are pictured below at the Jan. Piedmont Collie Club show.

It is now CH Deep River’s Early Frost – smooth blue. Hannah finished the first day in Cleveland for owners Joel McCarty & Nick Joines! Hannah is by Deep River’s Let It Snow CGC, RL1 (Frost) x CH Deep River Kate at Deer Leap PT

Yesterday and today, Malone – blue smooth, won two 4 pt. majors to become CH Dublin Hill’s Last Call. He is by CH Deep River’s Shadow of Victory x CH Kirkhaven Deep River of Lace. Congratulations Ellen, Bev & Michael!

CH Deep River’s Bow and Arrow was BOS the 3 days he was entered in some tough specials competition to 3 different bitch specials. Yesterday’s BOV winner was CH Deep River’s Easter Bonnet (Bonnie). Nancy & I thank our good friend Jim Holliday for showing Scout. Congrats to owners Terry & Ashely, handler Jane and co-breeder Nancy Fritz on Bonnie’s OH win and her other terrific 2007 wins!
